He obtained his Medical and Postgraduate degrees from University of Mysore during the mid-1980s. He has been a prolific speaker at national and international meetings and is an honourable author of more than 160 scientific papers. He also was the part of the team that performed the first awake beating-heart surgery and off-pump awake surgery at Fortis Hospitals, Bangalore.
Dr Chakravarthy was the Editor in Chief of the Annals of Cardiac Anesthesia, which is the official organ of IACTA. He was the President of Indian Association of Cardovascular and Thoracic Anesthesia. He is also on the editorial board of several journals, both national and international.
Dr. Murali Chakravarthy’s areas of special interest are: Dr Chakravarthy is identified as the authority on use of epidural in Cardiac surgery. His publication is perhaps the biggest one globally. He has several publication in hospital associated infection control.
