Fortis Hospitals, Bangalore along with Chirayu Hospital conducted first ever kidney transplant in Kalaburagi, part of Hyderabad-Karnataka border. The team of doctors was led by Dr Mohan Keshavamurthy, Director- Urology, Uro oncology, Andrology, Transplant & Robotic surgery, Fortis Hospitals, Bangalore.
The 38-year-old patient, Mr Bheemsen Chavan was suffering from chronic renal failure and was on hemodialysis. He was in urgent need for a kidney transplant when his wife Mrs Renuka Chauhan promptly came forward to donate her kidney.
