OVERVIEW OF THE TRAINING PROGRAMME

Echocardiography is currently the most widely used non-invasive imaging test for the evaluation of known or suspected heart disease. It involves a wide variety of techniques, both conventional and advanced. The conventional techniques are: M-mode, 2-dimensional / B-mode imaging, pulsed, continuous wave, and color Doppler imaging. Tissue Doppler imaging, strain by speckle echo, 3D echo, contrast echo, are some of the advanced techniques while stress echo and trans-esophageal echo are the specialized procedures.

In a given patient, any or all of these modalities may be used to detect and assess the nature and severity of suspected cardiac disease.

Training in echo will include

  • Understanding cardiac anatomy, cardiac hemodynamics and various pathophysiology
  • Knowledge of principles and instrumentation of ultrasound & the equipment
  • Acquisition of echo images and learning how to do measurements
  • Interpretation of normal and abnormal echo findings and ability to integrate them with
  • patient history and physical examination

The training is based on latest guidelines and recommendations with an objective to learn the various aspects of echocardiography in a practical, easy way and use this knowledge to apply it in daily practice

FELLOWSHIP : Detailed and comprehensive training of all aspects of 2d and 3d TEE will be provided with emphasis on hands-on training.

CERTIFICATE

  • Certificate of Training (provided by Fortis Hospital – In association with FAME & endorsed by Indian Academy of Echocardiography, Karnataka)
  • Fellowship in TEE

DURATION OF THE COURSES

  • 3 days for each of the separate modules in Conventional Echo (Basic, Intermediate & Higher) & Advanced Echo module – 4
  • 3 days for 3D echo module
  • 4 days for Advanced Echo & 3D echo modules combined
  • 4 days for TEE & Basic Echo modules combined
  • 4 days for Sonographer session (separate session which combines modules of conventional echo-higher level, Advanced Echo & 3D echo)
  • 1 month for Fellowship in TEE

INTAKE : Maximum of 15 attendees per batch

ELIGIBILITY

  • Post MBBS – 2 years
  • Post Diploma or equivalent degree
  • Post MD / DM / McH or equivalent degree
  • PG’s – MD / MS or equivalent degree
  • PG’s – DM / McH or equivalent degree
  • Sonographers – 3 years’ experience (can apply only for Module-3, 4 & 5)
  • (attendees will have to provide relevant copies of their medical certification at the time of applying)

FEES : 

  • Fee also includes course material, assessment & certificate, lunch & coffee breaks
  • Onsite learning material will be made available during the duration of training
  • Travel, accommodation and other local expenses are extra, to be arranged by attendee, though Fortis hospital with Travel Desk will help attendees to obtain near by accommodation
