Fortis Healthcare Limited was incorporated in the year 1996 with its first hospital commencing in 2001 at Mohali. It was founded on the vision of creating an integrated healthcare delivery system. Headquartered in New Delhi, Fortis, which recently acquired 10 Wockhardt Hospitals across three metros of Bengaluru, Mumbai & Kolkata has operations in 16 cities spread over 11 states around the country. PARAMEDICAL COURSES

Fortis Institute of Medical Sciences has been recognized by Government of Karnataka and has been affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka to conduct following Paramedical Courses:

• B.Sc. in Cardiac Care Technology (CCT)
• B Sc. Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology 
• B.Sc. in Perfusion Technology (PT)

These paramedical courses are designed as per the guidelines of RGUHS to train youngsters in the field of Health Sciences and to enable them to carry out specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the guidance of experts in the field. The course offers candidates an opportunity to get trained in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in a state-of-the-art facility.

B.Sc. CARDIAC CARE TECHNOLOGY (CCT) Both theoretical and practical trainings are imparted in:

• Theory will include: Basic health sciences like Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology & Microbiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology;

  • Advanced sciences like - Medicine related to Cardiac Care, Introduction to Cardiac Care, Applied, Advanced and Clinical aspect of Cardiac Care.

• Non-invasive cardiac procedures like ECG, Stress Test, Echocardiography, Doppler studies, Holter monitoring, etc will be taught as theory and practical.

• Invasive procedures like Angiography, PTCA, EP Studies and other vascular procedures are also a part of the curriculum.

The candidates will be on rotational postings for training to ECG, Stress Test/ Holter Monitoring, Echo/Doppler, Cath lab, TMT, CCU and Emergency Department.

B.Sc. ANAESTHESIA AND OPERATION THEATRE TECHNOLOGY (OTT) 

Both theoretical and practical trainings are imparted in:

• Theory will include: Basic health sciences like Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology & Microbiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology;
  • Advanced sciences like - Medicine related to Operation Theatre, Introduction to Operation Theatre, Applied, Advanced and Clinical aspect of Operation Theatre.
• Operating Room Management and Techniques, Anaesthesia, CPR, ICU & Recovery Room concepts, Blood Transfusion & Fluid Therapy, Bio-medical waste management, Sterilization, Medical Electronics, Basics of Medical Statistics, graft harvesting in cardiovascular surgery etc.

The candidates will be on rotational postings for training to Operation Theatres, CSSD sections of the hospital.

B.Sc. PERFUSION TECHNOLOGY (PT) Both theoretical and practical trainings are imparted in:

• Theory will include: Basic health sciences like Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology & Microbiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology;
  • Advanced sciences like - Medicine related to Perfusion Technology, Introduction to Perfusion Technology, Applied, Advanced and Clinical aspect of Perfusion Technology.
• The candidates will be on rotational postings for training to Cardio-Thoracic Surgical and Medical ICU Adult and Pediatrics, ECMO, Operation Theatres Cardiac Surgeries, Oncosurgeries, Vascular Surgeries.

ELIGIBILITY:

PUC / PDC with Biology a compulsory subject any of the combinations viz. Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology with a minimum aggregate of 50%.

ACADEMIC PERIOD: 3 YEARS + 12 MONTHS COMPULSORY INTERNSHIP

ATTENDANCE: Minimum 80% attendance in each subject is compulsory to appear for the University exam at the end of each academic year.

Internal Exam: There will be three internal exams to be held in each academic year

• December
• March
• June An aggregate of the best two internal exams marks will be send to university as per the guidelines.

LEAVES: As per the RGUHS holiday list. Any extra leaves apart from the RGUHS leaves will be considered as unauthorized leading to extension of tenure or if attendance is less than 80%, the students will not be allowed to appear for exam. If case, the student is absconding or absent for more than 7 days without any prior information shall be rusticated from the course till the permission from the RGUHS is sought.

ADMISSION: The prescribed Application Form for B.Sc. Courses can be collected from Fortis Hospitals ltd, Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore.

The following documents are to be submitted as a photocopy along with the application form:

• 10th Marks card for DOB proof
• 10+2 / SSLC marks card
• Transfer Certificate
• Migration Certificate (only applicable for outside students)
• Eligibility certificate for outstation students
• Address proof and
• ID Proof

ACADEMIC FEES: Fortis Institute of Medical Sciences will collect annual academic charges of Rs. 1,00,000/-.

MODE OF ADMISSION:

An entrance exam on their PUC syllabus will be conducted first, followed by an interview by the board of interviewer constituted by Fortis Hospitals ltd would interview eligible candidates.

Marks distribution:

• 25% from PUC / 12th total marks
• 75% from the entrance exam
• First 10 will be selected for the interview for 5 seats.

• Application fee of Rs.2000/- per application should be paid through NEFT/RTGS/online transaction
